Who We Help
The international social work services provided by ISS—USA are available to individuals, or organizations working on their behalf. ISS—USA staff directly assist children, families and adults. International social work services are also provided to professionals in private agencies, and in local, state and federal government agencies here in the United States and abroad.
ISS—USA assists family courts by responding to requests made by judges, lawyers, and guardians ad litem. ISS—USA interacts with state social service systems. The Interstate Compact for Placement of Children (ICPC) and departments of social services often rely on ISS to provide needed services. ISS—USA also works with universities and other educational institutions to develop training and provide internship placements.
ISS—USA works in concert with the U.S. Departments of State and Health and Human Services in repatriating American citizens to the United States in times of crisis. ISS—USA also assists American citizens abroad in working with the Immigration and Naturalization Service on aspects of intercountry adoption and specialized adoption services.
The ISS—USA Branch, in coordination with the other members of the ISS network, provides liaison and mediation assistance to human service and government agencies around the world.
