ISS-USA provides background checks for individuals in many circumstances, such as an individual wishing to adopt from, or wishing to have a child placed or visit from another country.
Background checks often include a criminal background check (CBC) or child abuse registry check (CARC).
CBCs must be requested by the individual concerned. CARCs are state-specific. Rules for release of a CARC (if allowed) vary greatly.
Please be aware that not all countries provide CBCs or CARCs.
ISS-USA also provides searches for parents for the purpose of locating a non-custodial parent or other relative when a child is in the U.S. foster care system and family notification, family finding and family engagement needs to take place .
