Intercountry Case Management Internship

Reports to Intercountry Casework Manager and/or Program and Training Manager

ISS-USA is the U.S. member of a global child protection and social service network. We connect vulnerable children, adults, and families, separated by a border, to the services and support they need. ISS-USA coordinates services for U.S. and non U.S. citizens returning to their countries of origin, conducts home studies, finds relatives in other countries, obtains documents such as birth certificates and adoption paperwork, provides post-placement monitoring, and acts as advocates for children reuniting with families all over the globe.

Position Objectives:

To broker social work services to international clientele through interagency coordination.  To participate in program development efforts targeted to the agency’s international audience. To undertake research and advocacy on a variety of issues related to children and families separated across international borders. Work on program development, grant writing and management and developing training curricula.

Preferred Majors for Internship:

Social Work, Human Services, Public Health, Psychology, Sociology, Conflict Management

Responsibilities:

Case Management:

  • Coordinate inter-country casework services and consultation with other ISS Branches, Correspondents and states.
  • Broker service delivery through ISS partners.
  • Monitor and coordinate interagency service delivery.
  • Maintain records, including computerized case management notes.
  • Maintains professional resource files.
  • Research requested information and present findings to internal and external audiences.
  • Prepare a wide range of documents, including case files, correspondence and memorandum. Contribute towards program reports and proposals.

Research and Organizational Development:

Work directly with the Program and Training Manager to support the Arthur C. Helton Institute for International Social Service (The Institute) on the following activities:

  • The development of research instruments for data collection
  • Data collection
  • Research on a broad range of topics related to children and families separated across international borders
  • Support publication of occasion papers on topics relevant to the goals of the Institute
  • Work on advocacy at the state and national level
  • Research and assist in the preparation of grants and other fundraising activities
