ISS-USA is the U.S. member of a global child protection and social service network. We connect vulnerable children, adults, and families, separated by a border, to the services and support they need. ISS-USA coordinates services for U.S. and non U.S. citizens returning to their countries of origin, conducts home studies, finds relatives in other countries, obtains documents such as birth certificates and adoption paperwork, provides post-placement monitoring, and acts as advocates for children reuniting with families all over the globe.

Internship Overview:
ISS-USA is seeking an Impact and Outreach Intern to support its administrative, communication, and fundraising/development initiatives. This internship provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit operations while contributing to projects that promote ISS-USA’s mission. The intern will assist with data management, social media, outreach, and donor engagement efforts. This is an excellent opportunity for students or recent graduates interested in international social work, nonprofit management, communications, or fundraising.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist with communications and outreach, including social media content creation and website updates.
  • Support fundraising initiatives by helping with donor engagement, campaign planning, and impact reporting.
  • Conduct research and compile reports related to ISS-USA’s advocacy and programmatic efforts.
  • Assist in organizing virtual and in-person events, including webinars and fundraisers.
  • Help maintain databases and organize donor, partner, and client records.
  • Provide general administrative support, including drafting correspondence and tracking engagement metrics.

Qualifications:

  • Current undergraduate or graduate student in a relevant field (e.g., social work, international relations, communications, nonprofit management) or recent graduate.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with social media platforms and content creation.
  • Interest in nonprofit development, fundraising, and outreach.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a remote setting.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and/or Google Workspace; experience with donor management systems is a plus.
